Raised in a family where my Dad never stopped singing, it was easy to be drawn into music. We would see Broadway shows, summer concerts, community theater - it was a great early education. Still, I didn’t make any move until one day, in 4th Grade, the school music teacher walked into our “music” (recorder) class and asked if anyone wanted to learn the drums. My hand shot up before I realized what I was doing.
You see, like MANY other drummers: I didn’t choose drums - they chose me !!! I played in the school band and then “Stage band”, jamming with other young players every time there was a chance to get together outside of school.

I started playing in clubs as an older teenager, then went to school where it was time to join a band playing clubs and concerts and parties. Oh, what fun - especially at 18 and 19, while going to school full time.
By age 20, I had already toured with a circus and accompanied performers on stages 6 days/week during college summer breaks. I was fully supporting myself as a musician and, subsequently, as a private teacher, too. I was still continuing my performance degree in music while performing jazz, rock, Symphonic, ethnic and more-sometimes in the same week! It was great fun and a great learning experience at the same time.
I received my B.A. Degree in Music Performance from Binghamton and continued to study, practice, teach and perform.
In recent years, I added daytime work as a Teaching Artist and a substitute teacher.
